A Look Back: Summer 2014 Anime (Part 2)

    10. Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun aka Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun

Made by Dogakoba and directed by Mitsue Yamazaki. She has worked on "Mawaru Penguindrum" sometimes shortened to "Penguindrum" and "Kämpfer".

The show is a romantic comedy about a girl with a crush and a dense guy. Yep, one of those again. The guy is the artist of a girls manga and she starts to help after a botched love confession. Comedy ensues, mostly due to the guys thickhead. It is a good entry for the genre.

    11. Glasslip

Made by P.A. Works and directed by Junji Nishimura. He has been in the business since the '80s and worked on things like "Ranma1/2" and "Samurai Deeper Kyo"

This is a slice of life with a twist. Reminded me of clannad without the soul crushing sadness. The characters aren't unique at all and the show is mediocre. The "seeing into the future" thing doesn't save it. It wasn't bad, just meh.

    12. Hanamongatari

Made by Shaft and directed by Akio Watanabe for animation. His work includes "Hoshizora Kiseki". The general director is Tomoyuki Itamura who worked on "Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica"

If you have seen any of the Monogatari series, or other work by Shaft, you will know the art style. They have their signature head tilts while looking back and other poses. There is some partial nudity, so the series isn't for the kiddies.
It was good, but it was just an appetizer for Kizumonogatari

    13. Hanayamata

Made by Madhouse and directed by Atsuko Ishizuka. She has directed " No Game No Life" and "Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo" aka "The Pet Girl of Sakurasou".

This is a slice of life anime. It goes into an interesting direction about wanting to learn a yosakoi dance. It has all the normal school, comedy, and cuteness you'd expect from a slice of life. It does not have the relationship aspect from what I've seen.

Should you watch? Maybe

    14. Jinsei

Made by Feel and directed by unknown. Original Creator Ougyo Kawashigi

I know nothing about this one. From the production company Feel, it is probably one of those ecchi comedy type of shows. The protagonist joins the journalism club and "plot" happens. It could be funny if you like the genre

    15. Kuroshitsuji: Book of Circus aka Black Butler: Book of Circus

Made by A1-Pictures and directed by Noriyuki Abe. He has worked on "Bleach" and "Yu Yu Hakusho"

This a continuation of the series before the anime did things different than the manga. Just pretend everything after ep. 15 of season 1 never happened and you'll be fine. The show has amazing animation due to A-1 and the story makes more sense, even if it does get silly at times..One of the contenders for best anime of the season.

Should you watch? Yes

    16. Love Stage!!

Made by J.C. Staff and directed by Kenichi Kasai. He was the director for "Aoi Hana" and "Bakuman.".

This is comedy, and it is also yaoi. I have no desire to watch them so I have no idea if it is good or bad. I'll probably watch the first two episodes at a later date for review purposes, but that's as far as it will go.

And that's it for part 2. Part three will be out in a few days. Since these posts take so long, about 3 hours, I think I may start to review individual episodes after the this Look Back series of posts. That way I can get more posts out more often, but I haven't decided yet. Thoughts? Opinions? Let me know in the comments below. As always, thanks for reading.
